The presence of suitable hiding spots and sufficient space in the aquarium makes a small group of these fish suitable. As a nocturnal species, it tends to hide when the lights are on and actively explores in the darkness to find food. Its diet includes invertebrates such as worms (including fireworms), crustaceans, and serpent stars. Upon introduction to the aquarium, live saltwater feeder shrimp can be employed to encourage feeding.
