Perhaps Menorca’s most well-known winery, Binifadet combines winemaking with a relaxed, elegant setting. Guests can sip wine on the sun-drenched terrace, paired with local cheeses, while enjoying views of the surrounding vines. Their sparkling wines and crisp whites are particularly popular. In 1982, a young and enthusiastic Menorcan, Carlos Anglés, decided to start planting vines with the intention of bringing back winemaking on the island. He planted 40 different varieties of plants with the help of his father, “l'avi en Buri”, who, having recently retired, took on the challenge of caring for them during the first few years. These were years marked by harvests full of friends and family who served as an excuse to share and celebrate life, but also for the detailed study of the varieties and find out which ones were best suited to the island's terroir.Luis, Carlos's son, returned to Menorca to help his father build the new winery, which opened its doors in 2004. Ten years later he took over the reins of Binifadet, breaking new ground in winemaking: single-vineyard wines (Tanca), native varieties and wines with more radical elaborations (Pieles).
