Presented by John Wilks MA RCST FRSA. 7.00 CNE Hours Accredited continuing nursing education. IPCE Credit Planned for the healthcare team. Online Learning Course video tutorials, clinical learning activities, quiz questions, and final assessment. Course Description This course introduces nurses to the clinical relevance of biodynamic craniosacral principles while maintaining clear professional boundaries. Learners explore the model's emphasis on stillness, therapeutic presence, gentle non-forcing contact, patient-led pacing, nervous-system settling, observation, consent, and respect for the body's capacity for regulation. The course does not train nurses to practise Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, osteopathy, psychotherapy, manual therapy, or any other specialist intervention. Instead, it gives nurses a practical framework for understanding the language and principles of the approach, communicating safely with patients and practitioners, recognising scope boundaries, documenting appropriately, and applying relevant concepts through nursing presence, consent, trauma-informed care, and referral awareness. What You Will Learn Core Principles Understand introductory biodynamic craniosacral concepts including listening, stillness, inherent health, primary respiration, gentle contact, and non-forcing care. Anatomy and Language Review craniosacral terminology at a nursing-literacy level, including the cranium, sacrum, dura, cerebrospinal fluid, fascia, and whole-body connection. Presence and Safety Apply principles of therapeutic presence, consent, patient pacing, emotional safety, trauma-informed touch, observation, and appropriate boundaries. Clinical Application Use biodynamic-informed reasoning to improve patient communication, comfort, referral quality, documentation, and coordination without crossing professional scope. Course Pathway The learning pathway moves from biodynamic foundations and terminology into therapeutic presence, safety, touch boundaries, referral decisions, and case-based integration. UnderstandExplore biodynamic principles, craniosacral language, stillness, listening, and inherent health. ObserveNotice patient comfort, nervous-system state, consent, pacing, communication, and clinical context. Confirm ScopeClarify what is permitted by role, region, policy, training, and competence. Support or ReferUse presence, communication, comfort support, referral, or escalation as clinically appropriate. DocumentRecord observations, consent, patient response, safety concerns, referrals, and follow-up needs. Important scope note: Nursing scope varies by country, region, register, employer policy, job role, training, competence, consent requirements, supervision arrangements, and indemnity or insurance. Completion of this course does not qualify, certify, license, or authorise the learner to practise Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy or any other specialist manual therapy unless the learner already holds separate training, competence, professional authorisation, and approval to do so within their jurisdiction and workplace. Who This Course Is For This course is suitable for nurses working in clinical practice, rehabilitation, palliative care, pain management, mental health, community care, wellness, supportive care, and interdisciplinary settings. It is especially relevant for nurses who want to better understand biodynamic craniosacral language, strengthen trauma-informed presence, support patient comfort, communicate appropriately with complementary practitioners, and maintain safe professional boundaries. About the Presenter John Wilks MA RCST FRSA has been practising the Bowen Technique and Craniosacral Therapy full time since 1995. He is a former chairman of the Bowen Association of the UK, the Craniosacral Therapy Association of the UK, and the Cranial Forum, the lead body overseeing national standards of practice for the profession in the UK. John is a former examiner for the University of Oxford examinations board and was an advisor on education and training for the Bowen Forum under the Prince of Wales' Foundation for Integrated Health. His long-standing clinical, educational, and professional leadership experience brings depth and context to this course. In support of improving patient care, this course has been planned and implemented by AKH Inc., Advancing Knowledge in Healthcare and Neil Asher. AKH Inc., Advancing Knowledge in Healthcare is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 7.00 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credit for learning and change.
