Purgo Biologics · PTFE Suture BioTex®Non-Resorbable PTFE Suture BioTex® is a non-resorbable monofilament suture made of 100% medical grade polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Its 100% monofilament structure prevents bacterial wicking and minimizes peri-implant infection risks. Its patented slim cut triangular needle creates a small penetration area for smooth needling and minimises damage to soft tissue, while a reinforced needle-suture connection helps prevent leakage and bleeding for faster healing. 100% Medical Grade PTFE Patented Slim Triangular Needle Minimal Memory · No Tangle · Superior Handling Clinical Insight What clinicians are saying Real-world feedback from implant and oral surgeons using BioTex® in their practices. "What I notice most with BioTex is how little memory the suture has straight out of the pack — it lies where I place it instead of springing back into a coil, which makes flap closure around implants noticeably faster. No fighting with tangled thread mid-procedure." Flap Closure · Minimal Memory · Implant Surgery "The slim triangular needle passes through tissue with very little resistance, and patients have commented on less post-op discomfort at the suture sites compared to what I'd used previously. It's a small detail, but it shows in how clean the closure looks at review." Needle Handling · Soft Tissue Closure · Patient Comfort Indications When to use BioTex® BioTex® is intended as a suture for dental implant surgery, suited to the standard suturing needs of implant and oral surgical procedures. Flap Closure — Primary closure of surgical flaps following implant placement. GBR & Membrane Fixation — Securing barrier membranes in place during guided bone regeneration procedures. Extraction Site Closure — Wound closure following extraction and ridge preservation procedures. Sinus Lift Closure — Soft tissue closure following lateral window or crestal sinus augmentation procedures. General Oral Surgical Closure — Standard suturing needs across implant and oral surgical procedures. Product Video A closer look at the needle & packaging design An inside look at how the BioTex® needle and Race Track packaging are engineered for predictable handling. Design Built around the needle-suture connection Every detail of BioTex® is designed to make handling easier in the surgical field, from the packaging through to the needle tip. Handling Reduces surgical chair-time with instant, tangle-free delivery The Tab lets surgeons quickly grasp and release the needle from its holder clip, while the Race Track–shaped packaging ensures instant, tangle-free delivery straight from the pack — significantly reducing surgical chair-time. A reinforced needle-suture connection helps prevent leakage and bleeding at the insertion point, supporting faster healing. Scientific Evidence Needle performance & design BioTex® needle performance is supported by manufacturer bench testing against a comparison suture needle. Needle Bending Strength Patented Slim Triangular Tip Needle bending strength testing recorded a maximum load of 2.04 kgf for BioTex® versus 1.36 kgf for a comparison suture needle. BioTex® demonstrates 50% higher bending resistance compared to the competitor, ensuring high rigidity under suturing stress. The patented slim cut triangular tip creates a small penetration area for smooth suturing, helping to minimise damage to surrounding soft tissue. Clinical Tips Getting the most from BioTex® Practical guidance for predictable handling and closure. 1 Use the Tab to release the needle cleanly. Grasp the Tab to remove the needle from its holder clip rather than pulling directly on the suture thread — this keeps the needle-suture connection intact and avoids unnecessary handling of the needle tip. 2 Let the Race Track packaging do the work. The suture is designed to release smoothly from its Race Track–shaped tray without tangling — avoid forcing or yanking the thread free, which can introduce kinks that minimal-memory PTFE would otherwise resist. 3 Match needle length to the surgical site. The 16mm needle (BT4016, BT5016) suits confined intraoral access, while the 19mm needle (BT3019) offers a wider bite for broader flap margins. 4 Trust the needle's rigidity, but don't force it. BioTex® bending strength testing showed higher resistance to bending stress than a comparison needle — this supports confident passage through dense tissue, though standard careful technique still applies to avoid needle damage. ⚠ Clinical Notice: BioTex® is a non-resorbable PTFE suture intended for use by trained dental and oral surgical practitioners. As a non-resorbable suture, it requires removal once healing is complete. Do not use if packaging is damaged or sterility is compromised.
