The Birka is a slim wallet carefully handmade from high-quality Italian Buttero leather, sourced from the well-known Conceria Walpier tannery in Tuscany. It’s handstitched with durable 0.8mm Ritza Tiger waxed polyester thread, ensuring it will serve you well for years to come. The wallet measures 10.5 cm in height and 7 cm in width and can store 5 to 6 cards along with a few notes, making it practical for everyday use. Birka was an important trading centre for the Vikings which handled goods from Scandinavia as well as many parts of Continental Europe and the Orient. There have been many archeological artifacts found on site including weapons, jewellery, daily-use items, and traces reflecting both traditional Viking and Christian faiths. Among the artifacts found was a leather coin purse from around 750 A.D. While this wallet doesn’t resemble the purse discovered at Birka, its name is inspired by that historic find.
