Bison BIND/R is an innovative proprietary hempcrete binder that hardens within hours to integrate hemp insulation into your construction project efficiently and seamlessly. Crafted from sustainable materials, this product offers a unique combination of constructability and insulation potential, breathability, acoustic performance, and thermal mass, making it ideal for eco-conscious builders and homeowners. BIND/R can be used much like any other hempcrete binder. To maintain an efficient construction workflow, the following process is recommended: Add 50 lbs of hemp hurd to the concrete mixer. We recommend a single-shaft paddle or mortar-type mixer with a capacity of nine (9) cubic feet or more. Add 50 lbs of water (six gallons) to the hurd to wet and cut down on dust. Mix for 30 seconds to one minute. Add 50 lbs of BIND/R (one bag) to the hurd and water mixture and mix for 30 seconds to one minute. Add 25 lbs of water (three gallons) to the BIND/R-hurd mixture and mix for 30 seconds to one minute. Place BIND/R hempcrete mix between the studs and tamp to ensure proper consolidation. For estimating purposes, 50 lbs of builder’s grade hurd mixture will result in eight (8) cubic feet of BIND/R Hempcrete.
