The American Bison is the largest terrestrial animal in North America. They range from 900-2200 pounds, males being slightly larger than females. Though large, they are surprisingl y fast, reaching speeds up to 35 mph. Both sexes have short, curved horns that can grow up to 2 feet long. The have a simple diet mainly of grass and low lying shrubbery.
