Incentive Create black and white patterns using paint and markers. Supplies Art paper or A4 paper Black marker Cotton ear buds Paint Paintbrush Lesson 1 Paint large thick black swirls and curved shapes all over paper and allow to dry. 2 Use ear bud dipped in white paint to print dots along some of the black paint. 3 Use a black marker to draw small dots, curves, swirls and circles in the white areas. 4 Add small white patterns along the rest of the black design using the paintbrush. 5 Allow to dry and display on black. 6 Alternatively.... draw large, irregular, geometric shapes all over the paper using a black marker. 7 In each section draw in different patterns. These can be curved, dotted, linear, repetitive and most importantly small, with few gaps. 8 Children can get ideas for patterns by simply using their environment or they could research patterns. 9 Display in mass on black for a great optical illusion.
