Description: The item you see in the photo is the actual item you will receive. This style of spoon is great for cooking and serving. The beveled, straight front edge is good for scraping the bottom of the pan, and the bowl has a volume of just under a quarter cup. How it's made:This spoon is made from wood I harvested on our property near Waynetown, Indiana. I cut each individual utensil to its rough shape on the bandsaw and then shape it on a belt sander before hand sanding and finishing with organic distilled coconut oil. No step in the process is automated. Care:All Leaning Locust wood utensils should be hand-washed. If you’d like to restore the original tones, you may occasionally treat it with mineral oil, butcher block oil, fractionated (distilled) coconut oil, or any other food-safe wood finish. The larger the utensil, the more important it is to oil the utensil periodically. Larger utensils experience greater expansion and contraction during the washing and drying process. (Note: Avoid using the regular, non-distilled coconut oil and olive oil used for cooking, as it may develop a thin layer of bacteria between uses.)
