A good pattern for when the crickets show up in Autumn. Used on the Highland Lakes of Tasmania, and as a surface pattern at night on stillwaters of the Snowy Mountains. Also great on the rivers of Victoria in Summer. Origin unknown possibly misnamed. It should be called a Black Cricket. The construction of this fly has many elements of deer hair grasshopper patterns and cicada patterns. We have been using it as a giant cicada pattern in the odd years when large cicadas are about.
