Black cod is loved around the world but especially on the West coast for its luxurious white meat. This wild fresh Black Cod/Sablefish is caught in the Pacific Northwest. Its ivory-white fillets are velvety in texture with large flakes and a rich, buttery flavor. They're also loaded with great taste and healthy omega-3 fatty acids! Although known as black cod, sablefish is not actually cod. In the 1800s, when fishermen from the East migrated to California coast, most fish they caught was generically called cod. The name “black cod” was attached to sablefish due to its dark mottled coloring. There are two seasons for this wild catch: April - July and Oct- Dec.
