Grc. (Guarechea) Black Comet is a hybrid of Enc. cochleata and Grc. Miva Etoile Noire – It's one of a kind, related to the Cattleya family. A very easy and very rewarding plant with 3 to 3.5 inch fragrant flowers borne on a 5-6 inch tall spike. Flowers range in color from dark maroon-red to almost black, and bloom sequentially on either side of the spike. They can bloom continuously for up to 3-4 months as the spike continues to grow and elongate. Mature plants can be in bloom all year round. This is an excellent plant for beginners because it is easy to grow, tolerant of heat, and a reliable bloomer. These Encyclia hybrids can last up to 12 weeks in an intermediate to cool conditions. They are easy to grow in the same conditions as Cattleya, by your windows or outside under patio or shade. Reduce water in the cold Winter.
