Black Elderberry "Sambucus canadensis" is our native elderberry that thrives here in ditches and swamps. It is also tolerant of dry conditions as well. Very forgiving. The fruit ca n be used in wine making, jellies, syrups, muffins and smoothies. A good substitute for black currents when cooking. Wonderful spring flowers can be used in cordials and great for pollinators. It is a small-medium shrub and can grow in most garden settings. Hardy, disease resistant and productive.
