DESCRIPTION Released on Hieroglyphics Imperium, the LP "Black Magic" by Casual brings together tightly arranged tracks that combine classic rap structures with contemporary production approaches. The release offers a total of fifteen tracks of varying lengths, ranging from short, concise sketches to more extended narratives, creating a varied listening experience. Musically, "Black Magic" sits firmly in the field of hip-hop with a strong focus on lyrics and flow; Casual’s distinctive, precise rhyme technique is front and center and carries the arrangements. As a longtime member of the Hieroglyphics crew, Casual brings the characteristic emphasis on dense lyricism and clear rhythm, with the songs drawing on both traditional elements and modern sonic textures. Thematically, the lyrics range from self-reflection to direct statements, shaping the character of the record. Several producers were involved in the project: Casual himself is responsible for the beats alongside DJ Daryl, A-Plus, Jamal Nueve, and Dead Perry; mixing and mastering were handled mostly by Casual, with Deegan Mack Adams, DJ Daryl, and Starski contributing on individual tracks.
