Item Name: Black Opal Crushed Red Fire SKU: CRUSHED OPAL RED FIR Description: Black Opal Crushed Red Fire is crushed black opal material sold by weight. It is prepared as small, irregular chips intended for use as an inclusion in borosilicate lampworking. This material is used when you want the distinctive red fire look associated with black opal effects in a finished piece. Crushed opal is typically added to sections that will be protected by clear glass so it can be fully sealed and displayed without being exposed on the surface. How it is used: Heat the area where you want the opal effect, then pick up a small amount of crushed opal and place it onto the hot glass. Gently melt it in with a soft flame and avoid aggressive direct heat that can scorch the effect. Once the opal is seated, cover it with clear glass to fully encase it, then continue shaping and finishing the piece.
