Black Tail Mountain is an open-pollinated variety of watermelon bred by Glenn Drowns, founder of the Sand Hill Preservation Center. Bred for the cool climates of northern Idaho whe re nighttime temperatures average 43 degrees, Black Tail Mountain is prized by gardeners across the country for its quick maturity and ability to ripen even in cool temperatures. Highly productive plants produce excellent yields of 6 to 10-pound black watermelons with juicy, bright red centers. The flesh is of the highest quality, with an intense sweetness and a fine texture. A must-grow variety, particularly for those with short seasons. Matures 70 days from sowing. Each packet contains a minimum of 25 seeds. Show more
