Blackjack Blast looks straight up at RAF Typhoon ZJ914 as it climbs vertically overhead, the Union Flag on its black undersides filling the frame against a clear blue sky.This is an original Marqforde photograph taken from directly beneath the jet as it pulled into the vertical during a display, the twin exhausts at the bottom of the frame and the nose pointing at empty sky.About the aircraftZJ914 was built in early 2005 as a Tranche 1 single-seater, construction number 0051/BS005, and was taken on RAF charge on 7 June 2005. Over almost two decades of service it flew with 17 and 41 Squadrons as well as IX(B) Squadron.In September 2020 it became the RAF's first aggressor Typhoon, painted almost black with a green bat. Flying from Lossiemouth, it played the opposing fighter for RAF and NATO crews, including F-35B pilots at Marham and the US Air Force at Lakenheath.For 2024 the display role passed to ZJ913, the D-Day-themed Moggy, with ZJ914 kept as the secondary jet.
