The Blackmagic Design UltraStudio 4K Thunderbolt Capture & Playback is an external capture and playback device that you can use table-top or 1RU rack-mounted. Featuring advanced versions of top quality connections, QuickTime and DPX codec compatibility, and compressed and uncompressed transfer capacity, UltraStudio 4K works direct with the widest range of video equipment and editing software and is one of the highest-performing capture and playback devices ever made. It captures from your camera at a maximum of 2K resolution, but can play back at up to 4K, meaning that any 4K footage you may have on your computer from another input source, you can output for monitoring in full 4K on a separate display. 4K is handled by both the SDI and HDMI outputs, with the SDI processing it in 4:2:2 and with only two BNC cables as opposed to the common four. (The SDI ports are Dual Link 3 Gb/s SDI.) Among many features and qualities, you'll find up, down, and cross conversion, a built-in SD Keyer, and support for professional quality audio.
