The Blisscape sits low and wide, its rectangular form demanding very little while commanding the room. Every surface, including the base and tabletop, is wrapped in Poltrona Frau's signature leather, so the piece reads as a single continuous object rather than a construction of parts. Beneath the leather, the structure is birch plywood and MDF, chosen for dimensional precision and long-term stability. The leather does not merely cover the form - it completes it. Edges, planes, and corners are addressed with the same care applied to the house's seating. Poltrona Frau has worked in leather since 1912, developing proprietary tanning and dyeing processes at its atelier in Tolentino, in the Marche region of Italy. Over years of use, the leather softens and deepens in tone, acquiring a patina shaped by its specific environment. The Blisscape is, in that sense, a piece that is never quite finished.
