Add a touch of handmade art to your favorite books using some ink and carving blocks! In this workshop, we'll work on the basic skills of block printing so that you can learn to print your own unique designs. You will learn: The unique interplay between positive and negative space designs How to transfer a design to a carving block How to carve using different blades safely How to finalize your block and ready the ink How to apply the design to a paper bookmark using a brayer and textile ink Students will be making laminated bookmarks and can choose a colored tassel for some extra flair! All materials and tools are provided during the workshop to carve one 2" x 6" block and print a set of bookmarks. Class Details Date: Select start date above. We have two locations in Greenpoint: 165 Greenpoint Ave and 37 Greenpoint Ave. June - September 2026 we also have a pop-up space at 225 Broadway in Lower Manhattan!Cost: $45 includes 1.5 hours of instruction and all materials. Meet Your Instructor Kat Lee (she/her) is a freelance illustrator with a love of mixed media, and is currently combining her love of fiber arts and blockprinting.
