Add a touch of handmade art to your new favorite tote bag using some ink and carving blocks! In this workshop, we'll work on the basic skills of block printing so that you can learn to print your own unique designs. You will learn: The unique interplay between positive and negative space designs How to transfer a design to a carving block How to carve using different blades safely How to finalize your block and ready the ink How to apply the design to a tote bag using a brayer and textile ink Students will be provided with pre-designed templates that will help with learning the above foundational skills. Once learned, students can then apply it to the templates they need to plan out and scale the design they imagine for their tote bag. All materials are provided during the workshop. Meet Your Instructor Kat Lee (she/her) is a freelance illustrator with a love of mixed media, and is currently combining her love of fiber arts and blockprinting.
