Curious about glassblowing but not ready to dive into a full course? This one-hour class is the perfect introduction to the magic of working with molten glass. Working side-by-side with a highly skilled artist as your instructor, you will assist in creating a beautiful blown-glass ornament. Here’s how it works: Come into the hot shop and the instructor will explain each step. Choose your colours and assist the instructor as they gather and shape the molten glass. With the instructor’s guidance, you’ll assist in shaping the piece using the foot pedal to inflate it with air. (For health and safety, we currently use an air system instead of blowing directly into the pipe.) Finally, watch your ornament get reheated, finished, and placed into the kiln to cool overnight. When it’s not your turn, you can help out as needed or simply sit back and enjoy seeing each piece take shape. Used as a friendship ball hung from the window, or brought out for the holidays; the final product is just as enjoyable as the experience itself! 1 hour class $75 + hst per ornament max 5 per class no experience necessary must be 15 years or older Please note: molten glass needs to cool down slowly overnight in a controlled oven.
