A lovely vug of botryoidal blue hemimorphite. Locality is attributed to the Gila County, Arizona, USA region. The specimen was acquired from an old mineral collection which included pieces primarily from the United States' Southwestern region, which also helps contribute to the attribution of locality. This mineral specimen consists of a vug lined with botryoidal hemimorphite, displaying a soft to medium blue coloration characteristic of copper-influenced zinc deposits of the American Southwest. The hemimorphite occurs as tightly clustered, rounded aggregates with a fine, radiating microcrystalline texture, producing a subtle luster across the curved surfaces. The botryoidal growth coats the interior of the vug, highlighting natural cavity formation within the host rock and offering clear visibility of the mineral’s secondary zinc silicate habit. Specimens of this type commonly form in the oxidation zones of zinc-rich ore bodies, where circulating fluids redeposit hemimorphite along open fractures and voids. Based on appearance, mineral association, and style of formation, the specimen is most likely from Gila County, Arizona, a region well known for fine blue hemimorphite occurrences.
