To increase the tension on the thread, slide the spacer on the throat of the bobbin downward (toward the spool). Perfectly balanced when spun; making it spin smoothly when using th e split thread method for dubbing loops, or when flattening thread. Hardened steel tube is very smooth preventing thread fraying.
