Boltonia asteroides(White False Aster) Native to Maine and many parts of the United States, Boltonia asteroides produces an abundance of small, starry white flowers in late summer. The daisy-like blooms resemble asters or fleabane and create an airy display above tall, branching stems. This adaptable native perennial grows naturally in wet meadows, marshes, bottomland forests, thickets, and along streams and pond banks. It performs well in sunny, moist areas but also adapts to average garden soil. Its tall habit makes it a good choice for rain gardens, naturalized plantings, and the back of perennial borders, where it pairs well with Joe-Pye weed.
