This Bombers Twisted Mullen Mouth Pelham is a strong bit with a square twist throughout the blue sweet iron curved bar mouthpiece. Twisted Mullen Mouthpiece This is a strong mouthpiece with a square twist in the curved mullen mouthpiece. The edges of the twist create pressure points on the tongue, tips and bars of the mouth, giving a much higher level of control than a smooth snaffle. This bit is often suitable for strong older horses. Pelham The rings on the Pelham provide a similar action to that offered by a double bridle, but in a less precise manner. When the top rein is used, the bit has a similar action to that of a hanging cheek snaffle, putting pressure on the bars of the mouth as well as a limited amount of poll pressure. The curb rein provides leverage action on the poll and also puts pressure on the curb groove via the curb chain. The pelham can be used with two reins or with pelham roundings. A curb chain is included with this bit. Blue Sweet Iron The blue sweet iron mouthpiece oxidises easily, creating a warm, sweet taste in the horse's mouth. This encourages salivation, gentle mouthing and acceptance of the bit. Please note that the blue will fade with use.
