Gorillas face many threats in the wild including poaching for bushmeat and habitat loss and degradation. Due to their habitat being fragmented, the remaining populations are pushed into smaller areas, where it can be more challenging for the populations to recover. Both species of gorillas are classified as Critically Endangered – and are balancing on the edge of extinction. Your adoption will help to support Born Free’s work in protecting vital gorilla habitats, and funding ranger patrols to monitor gorillas and prevent illegal poaching and hunting. Born Free works in Dja Biosphere Reserve, in Cameroon, to protect wild western lowland gorillas and help them coexist with rural communities. In your pack, you will receive: a cuddly toy, animal story, species fact sheet, glossy photo and certificate of adoption. As well as this, you will receive the Born Free Adopt Magazine twice during the year.
