The depots of the Boston & Providence, Boston & Albany (formerly of the Boston & Worcester), Old Colony, and New York and New England lie south of downtown (left). These were consolidated into South Station in 1899. The depots of the Boston & Lowell, Eastern, Fitchburg, and Boston & Maine lie north of downtown (right). These were consolidated into Union Station in 1894.
