The T’s 1966 folding system route map, virtually identical to the 1965 edition, was simultaneously rolled out with Cambridge Seven’s new rapid transit “spider” map. Since 1966, the MBTA has regularly revised and reissued both a geographically accurate system map, akin to Lufkin Format maps, along with a more abstract line map, like the spider map. A non-Lufkin Format system map did not appear until 1967, when the T released a map prepared for it by the Boston Redevelopment Authority (Figure 9.30).
