The Scarlet Compacta Bottlebrush shrub is a landscape favorite in warmer climates. If you live below USDA Zone 10 you will need to take steps to prevent damage to this plant when the temperatures dip below freezing. Bottlebrush trees produce brilliant 3-4” red fibrous blooms in spring through summer. When the new foliage of this callistemon bush emerges it will have warm hues of copper-bronze and light green that will mature to a deeper green foliage. This dense grower matures to 10-12' high by 8-10' wide, it can be planted and used as a privacy hedges, specimens, and mass plantings in the landscape. Scarlet Compacta Callistemon can also be limbed up by removing the lower branches to create a small tree. When planting this bottlebrush shrub choose a location with full sun to part shade and in well-draining soil. The Scarlet Compacta Bottlebrush is salt-tolerant, drought tolerant, and rarely has issues with insects and diseases.
