While Gamay is not commonly found in the Côte d'Or, historically it has given the Burgundians something to drink while they waiting for the years that were needed for their beloved Pinot Noir to unwind passed by. But The Chevillons are one of the few who do indeed plant the variety. Passetoutgrain, in the local dialect, mean "throw it all in," and is actually an archaic, but rapidly disappearing appellation for Burgundian field blends of Gamay and Pinot Noir that are harvested and co-fermented together. Its a softer side of Nuits-Saint-Georges Rouge. Domaine Robert Chevillon is simply, dollar for dollar, one of the best buys in all of Burgundy. Consistently great year-over-year, the domaine is helmed by fifth generation growers and brothers Denis and Bertrand Chevillon.
