Box One Titanium Brake Posts Product Overview The Box One Titanium Brake Posts are lightweight fasteners designed for MTB and BMX frames with v-brake boss mounts. These M10x1.25 titanium posts secure v-brake calipers to frame bosses while minimizing weight at just 11 grams per pair. Each set includes Ti-Prep lubricant to prevent seizure and requires only an 8mm wrench for installation. Key Features Titanium construction - Advanced lightweight material reduces frame weight without sacrificing strength or durability; natural finish resists corrosion Minimal weight penalty - 11 grams per pair supports weight-conscious builds while maintaining structural integrity for brake system forces Universal v-brake compatibility - M10x1.25 specification fits most MTB and BMX frames with standard v-brake boss mounts Seizure prevention included - Ti-Prep lubricant packet prevents titanium galling and seizure during installation and future removal; critical for titanium fasteners Simple installation - Requires only 8mm open-ended wrench; no specialized tools or complex procedures necessary Durable natural finish - Titanium's inherent corrosion resistance eliminates need for additional coatings; maintains appearance across seasons and weather conditions Reusable fasteners - Titanium durability allows multiple installation/removal cycles without degradation or stripping Technical Specifications Material: Titanium alloy Size: M10x1.25 Weight: 11 grams per pair (0.38 ounces) Quantity: 2 posts per set Weight per post: 5.5 grams Installation tool required: 8mm open-ended wrench Finish: Natural titanium Included accessory: Ti-Prep lubricant packet (seizure prevention) Frame compatibility: V-brake boss mounts (MTB and BMX standard) Color: Natural silver Compatibility and Ideal Use Cases Frame type: MTB and BMX frames with v-brake boss mounts (M10x1.25 specification) Brake systems: Mechanical v-brake calipers; not compatible with hydraulic or cantilever brake systems Best for: Weight-conscious builds, riders upgrading from steel fasteners, performance-focused MTB and BMX setups, and those prioritizing minimal rotating mass Installation requirement: Apply Ti-Prep lubricant to threads before installation; prevents seizure and enables future removal without damage Removal: Use 8mm wrench to back out posts; Ti-Prep ensures easy removal even after extended use Maintenance: Monitor bolt tightness periodically; v-brake bosses subject to vibration-induced loosening under braking loads Torque specification: Follow frame manufacturer recommendations for proper fastening torque Ideal use cases: Lightweight build optimization, frame upgrades from steel fasteners, and riders combining components for minimal system weight Note: Titanium's properties (strength, corrosion resistance, weight) justify premium pricing; Ti-Prep inclusion critical for long-term reliability; do not reuse without fresh Ti-Prep application; confirm M10x1.25 specification matches your frame boss mounts before purchase
