De Smart BatteryProtect ontkoppelt de accu van niet-essentiële belastingen vóórdat deze volledig is ontladen (hetgeen de batterij kan beschadigen) of voordat het over onvoldoende vermogen beschikt om de motor te starten.Bij het gebruik van Bluetooth om de Smart BatteryProtect te programmeren, kunnen alle vereiste niveaus voor in-/uitschakelen worden ingesteld. Als alternatief kan één van de negen voorinstellingen voor in-/uitschakelen worden ingesteld met de programmeerpin (zie handleiding).Bluetooth kan worden uitgeschakeld, indien nodig. De Smart BatteryProtect is een eenrichtingsapparaat. Het kan alleen stroom doorlaten in één richting, dus ofwel stroom naar een belasting of stroom van een lader, maar niet beide stromen tegelijkertijd. Bovendien kan de stroom alleen van de IN-klem naar de UIT-klem. Bij gebruik met een belasting maakt de accu verbinding met de IN-klem en bij gebruik met een lader zal de lader verbinding maken met de IN-klem.
