A lamp harp is a curved metal piece that fits into the lamp saddle, which is found right below the socket on most American lamps. There is a flat disk on the top of the harp which supports the shade, and has a threaded screw to secure the shade with a finial; a functional and decorative piece that sits at the very top to secure everything in place. The lamp saddle determines whether you need a regular or heavy-duty harp, although a regular harp will almost always fit into most saddles. Product Specifications Available in half-inch increments from 6 to 13 inches Available in full-inch increments from 13 to 15 inches Measurement reflects the full length of the harp, including the screw at the top. A harp no smaller than 6.5 inches is required to fit a standard-size bulb. The harp size needed depends on the height of the shade.
