This piece by Bartuch is a striking exercise in texture and color theory Title: BREAKING WAVES Artwork Description Composition and Palette In this mixed-media seascape, Bartuch captures the ethereal transition between day and night. The piece is anchored by a textured shoreline, where the artist has used heavy impasto or grit to create a tactile, three-dimensional representation of sand meeting the tide. The palette moves from earthy, gritty ochres at the base to a luminous cerulean and soft peach in the sky, creating a sense of infinite horizon. Atmosphere and Technique The work features a sheltered bay framed by distant, hazy silhouettes of headlands. The mid-ground is defined by the frothy, white crests of breaking waves, rendered with a rhythmic energy that contrasts against the stillness of the sunset. The use of a "floater frame" gives the canvas a modern, airy presence, making the ocean scene feel like a portal into a serene, coastal sanctuary. Emotional Resonance Breaking Waves evokes a feeling of meditative solitude. By emphasizing the physical texture of the foam and sand, Bartuch invites the viewer to not just see the ocean, but to feel the spray and the grounding presence of the earth. It is a celebration of the raw, tactile beauty of the coastline. Note: The contrast between the painting’s cool blues and the warm peach light creates a focal point that draws the eye directly to the center of the bay, symbolizing hope or a new beginning. 52cm x 52cm hand painted stretched deep canvas, set into an off white shadow box frame
