Karen Atherley's work is instantly recognisable and has developed to include the use of decals of birds, flowers, insects and even cherubs to enhance her hand painted glazing. Medi a: Ceramic Dimensions: 11.5 x 11.5cm approx Artist Bio: Karen Atherley Karen Atherley is a ceramicist based in the UK, having created her own personal style with a career spanning 40 years, her work portrays curvy figures influenced by Greek antiquity and the colours of the impressionists. Karen has been working with clay since specialising in ceramics at Camberwell College of Art and Crafts. She was captured by the immediate responsiveness of clay and its fleshy quality as it pushed back on her hands. There she was exposed to and mentored by prominent potters such as Colin Pearson and Janice Tchalenko.
