The Concorde was a supersonic transport aircraft jointly developed and manufactured by British and French aerospace companies, namely Sud Aviation (later Aérospatiale and Airbus) and the British Aircraft Corporation (later British Aerospace and BAE Systems). Despite being a technological marvel, Concorde was ultimately retired in 2003 due to declining demand, rising operating costs, and safety concerns following an accident. A total of 20 Concorde aircraft were built. This includes two prototypes, two pre-production aircraft, two development aircraft, and 14 production aircraft for commercial service.
