For those somewhat familiar, these officially labelled 'field jacket DPM' have very similar features to the smocks just with a slightly different cut and in rip-stop material! For the uninitiated however, these are what the British Army came out with in the 90s for general field work. A bit heavier than a field shirt and loaded with way more pockets! The front of the jacket opens up with a heavy duty zip and is protected with a hook & loop storm flap. Inside is a pretty plain affair with both a waist cord and bottom cord to help give a better shape as well as form insulation. The outside is where the real action is - 4 very generous sized waist & chest pockets with Canadian style buttons (easy to feel/grab in the dark). Beneath the chest pockets are 2 semi-hidden chest pockets, great for maps, keys, phones, valuables - you name it. A brilliant field jacket that has a great balance of functionality, weight & robustness.
