Seeds sown outside should be planted at a d epth of 1cm in rows 15cms apart. Sowing occurs between March – June. Harvesting: Broccoli is usually ready to harvest after approximately 100 days and can be taken when the heads or spears appear well formed but still in bud. The side shoots will continue to grow so you can harvest broccoli 2-3 times in the same season. Information: Broccoli prefers fertile, well drained soil which is slightly acidic with a pH of 6 - 7. Broccoli can be planted between 12 – 20 inches apart. Broccoli should be watered regularly and needs a full sun and plenty of light. Broccoli should ideally be getting at least 6-8 hours of sun per day. In order to avoid pest issues, broccoli should be planted in an area that hasn’t been used for the Brassicaceae (cabbage) family for four years prior.
