Trio of whimsical 'Etruscan' 18 carat froglet dress-studs by renowned goldsmith John Brogden . c.1852. Since Antiquity frogs have been held to be symbolic of fertility,purity,prosp erity and good luck. Original royal blue velvet case with John Brogden stamp,address 16 Henrietta St.,Covent garden. Each stud stamped JB. Brogden first won a prize medal at the Great Exhibition in 1851. As he collected further medals these were recorded on the label stamp, and the next prize was won in Paris in 1855. The stamped mark, JB in a oval, was entered at Goldsmiths' Hall in 1848. Show more
