The Brompton Gear Cable Pulley Assembly is that odd-looking black part mounted to the seat stay on the back of your Brompton. It is part of the Brompton hub-gear system used on all 3-Speed and 6-speed Brompton bikes. It routes the gear cable through a 90-degree angle to the cable anchor which in turn connects to the gear indicator chain to change the gears within the 3-speed internal hub. There is a wheel inside which should move freely to allow your gears to change without hassle. This can get clogged up over time. If it does, then this is what you need.
