Founded in 2019 by Tanvi Arora, TAV Ceramics is a design driven ceramics studio that focuses not just on craftsmanship but also on the design process. Employing traditional wheel throwing along with more robust production techniques, the studio has handled projects of a broad spectrum of scales. Born in South Asia, raised in the Middle East and now settled in Canada, Tanvi’s multi-cultural upbringing informs her design sensibility. She spent a decade working as an interior designer for hospitality and commercial projects before finding her way to ceramics. She attributes clay to providing a pivotal transformation point in her journey and harbors a strong reverence for the material as a result. While recognizing the lifelong learning associated with clay, she holds a passion for pushing the boundaries of the medium and intentionally designs objects that prioritize materiality. Tanvi’s work was recently awarded the 2023 Maker of the Year in Western Living Magazine’s Designer of the Year Awards.
