An interesting version of the Luckenbooth brooch, with two entwined hearts crowned by a knotted rope. A tiny diamond is inset in one of the hearts. The double hearts rest upon a ba r pin of mellow 15ct gold. Lovely Etruscan Revival details cover the piece, with fine granulation, beads, and wire work. So sweet and romantic, with refined craftsmanship. Circa 1890. The Luckenbooth is a Scottish symbol, typically worn as a brooch. It dates to the 17th Century. The symbol consists of a heart or, more commonly, two entwined hearts, with a crown above. The Luckenbooth is usually given as a token of friendship, affection, or betrothal.
