A great little scene that I came across on our last visit to the Lake District. Brougham Castle in Cumbria. Slightly unusual approach this time, as I’m working from a photo I took in the early autumn, but using a bit of imagination to turn it into a snow scene. Lots of fascinating aspects to this project, starting with an exciting sky, that features glimpses of blue between billowing white and grey clouds. Then there’s the use of texture to create the rustic weathered look of the castle stonework, plus plenty of opportunity to shape the land with careful use of shadows.
