BRU-1™ Hops for Pineapple, Citrus, and Bold Modern Aroma BRU-1™ is a U.S. grown hop, offered here in standard T-90 pellet form and best known for the strong pineapple character that made it stand out so quickly with brewers. The variety is associated with Brulotte Farms and is marketed by Yakima Chief Hops, where it has built a reputation as a modern hop with a distinctive fruit-forward profile and strong performance in late-hop applications. BRU-1™ is generally described as an open-pollinated selection discovered during Brulotte Farms cultivation work. That background fits the way brewers tend to experience it in practice: as a variety with a clearly recognizable signature, especially when used in whirlpool and dry-hop additions where its fruit character has room to show itself. Flavor and Brewing Character BRU-1™ is known for pineapple, citrus, and tropical fruit character, backed by fresh green notes that can add brightness and lift when used in the right recipe. It is a hop that tends to make an impression quickly, especially in beers where expressive aroma is the goal. In the brewhouse, BRU-1™ is especially well suited to whirlpool use, dry hopping, and other late-hop applications. It fits naturally in pale ales, IPAs, hazy IPAs, imperial IPAs, golden ales, and wheat ales, especially when the brewer wants fruit-forward aroma with a clear tropical identity. Why Brewers Choose BRU-1™ Brewers often choose BRU-1™ because its pineapple character is both distinctive and easy to recognize in the finished beer. It is a strong option when you want a hop that can help define the aroma profile of a recipe rather than just support it in the background.
