Stella di Campalto's family purchased their vineyard outside Castelnuovo dell'Abate in 1992. Originally known as Podere San Giuseppe, the site was planted in 1910, but had been abandoned during WWII, and had long ago fallen into a state of near ruin. Stella was immediately put in charge of winemaking, converting to organic farming by 1996, and instituting biodynamic principles by 2002. She produces some of the very finest natural fruit found anywhere in Italy (or the world for that matter), and every stage of farming and winemaking is done completely by hand. Additionally she hold's here wine for bottle maturation much longer than many of her neighbors. Her Brunello di Montalcinos have quickly risen to become an absolute benchmark for the region and an obsession for many an-Italian-wine-lover. Sourced from biodynamic sites in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, Campalto's 'Bacia' cuvée epitomizes the winemaker's commitment to minimal intervention winemaking. Wild fermented and matured in oak casks for three years before three additional years of bottle maturation, this wine exudes rose petal, wild strawberry, freshly-crushed herbs, autumn spices and licorice. A simply staggering beauty. 14.5% ABV
