'Betty Bowring' A dependable, clump-forming perennial for shade, Brunnera macrophylla ‘Betty Bowring’ bears neat, heart-shaped green leaves and airy sprays of small, pure white, forget-me-not-like flowers in spring (April–May). Excellent for woodland edges, shady borders and underplanting around shrubs or spring bulbs, it thrives in consistently moist, fertile, humus-rich soil in partial to full shade; avoid hot, dry positions. Remove spent flower stems after blooming to keep plants tidy, and mulch to help the soil retain moisture. The spring flowers provide useful nectar for pollinators. To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height.
