Harvesting: Brussel sprouts are ready when the sprout head is 1-2 inches in diameter and when they have turned firm and green and before they turn yellow. To harvest you simply twist and break the sprout away from the plant Information: Brussel sprouts require a firm and very fertile soil. Brussel sprouts will germinate between 7-12 days. Brussel sprouts are a cool season crop and can withstand cooler temperatures. Sowing can begin in February onwards for indoor planting or between April-May for outdoor planting. Brussel sprouts require a sunny spot but also shelter from wind. Soil should be firmly pressed around the stalks for support.
