What You Get Red Razor Algae is a distinctive red macro that forms dense clumps of knobby, triangular branches. Each frond is stiff and rigid, with short alternating side stalks that give the plant a natural but sharp look rather than “plastic.” In the wild, Bryothamnion triquetrum is found attached by a single holdfast to hard bottom in shallow, high-energy habitats. In the aquarium, it makes an excellent focal macro for areas of stronger flow, especially in mixed-macro displays and macro-forward reef systems. Why It Is Algaesome Bold, architectural form: Triangular, knobby branches create a rigid, bushy structure that stands out from softer, flowing reds. Holds its shape: Naturally stiff and upright, it maintains a clean form even in higher flow and doesn’t collapse into a tangle. High-flow specialist: Comes from shallow habitats with strong current, making it ideal for well-circulated tanks and “energy zones” in your aquascape.
