Improve airflow while retaining the original Volvo airbox with the BSR Performance Panel Air Filter for D3, D4 and D5 5-cylinder diesel engines. Designed as a direct replacement for the standard disposable paper filter, this reusable performance filter offers reduced intake restriction without the additional noise or engine-bay changes associated with a full induction kit. It is an ideal upgrade for Volvo owners who want to improve the efficiency of the factory intake system while keeping an OEM-style installation. The increased airflow capability makes it equally suitable for standard cars and modified diesels running ECU software, intercooler upgrades or other supporting performance modifications. The BSR filter uses a pleated cotton filtration medium supported by steel mesh on both sides, providing a combination of strong airflow, effective filtration and durability. Polyurethane sealing edges ensure the filter sits securely within the original Volvo airbox. Unlike a conventional paper filter that is discarded during servicing, the BSR panel filter is washable and reusable. With the correct cleaning and re-oiling procedure, it can be serviced repeatedly, making it a practical long-term upgrade for high-mileage daily drivers as well as tuned Volvo diesels. Because the original airbox is retained, installation is straightforward with no permanent modifications required. Simply remove the original filter element and install the BSR filter in its place. For Volvo owners looking for a subtle intake upgrade without converting to an open cone filter, this is one of the simplest ways to improve the breathing capability of the factory intake system. Key Features / Selling Points Performance replacement panel filter – fits directly inside the original Volvo airbox Suitable for D3, D4 and D5 diesels – designed for selected Volvo 5-cylinder engines Reduced intake restriction – allows the factory intake system to breathe more freely Pleated cotton filter media – designed to balance airflow and effective filtration Steel mesh reinforcement – supports the filter material on both sides Polyurethane sealing edges – ensures secure fitment inside the standard airbox Washable and reusable – a long-term alternative to disposable paper filters Ideal for tuned vehicles – complements ECU remaps and other supporting performance modifications Retains the factory airbox – ideal for owners who want an OEM-style installation Simple installation – no cutting, fabrication or permanent modifications required Vehicle Fitment Volvo C30 2.4 D5 – approximately 2007–2010 D5244T8 D5244T9 D5244T13 2.0 D3 / D4 – approximately 2011–2013 D5204T D5204T5 Volvo C70 II 2.4 D5 – approximately 2007–2010 D5244T8 D5244T9 D5244T13 Volvo S40 II 2.4 D5 / 2.0 D3 & D4 – approximately 2006–2012 D5244T8 D5244T9 D5204T5 Volvo V50 2.4 D5 / 2.0 D3 & D4 – approximately 2006–2012 D5244T9 D5204T D5204T5 Volvo V40 2.0 D3 / D4 5-Cylinder – approximately 2013–2015 D5204T4 D5204T6 Important: Volvo used several D3, D4 and D5 engine variants during these model years. Please confirm the engine code and existing air-filter shape before ordering rather than relying solely on the D3, D4 or D5 badge. Filter Maintenance For consistent airflow and filtration performance, the filter should be periodically cleaned and correctly re-oiled. The existing BSR guidance recommends servicing approximately every 10,000–15,000 km, although vehicles used in particularly dusty or demanding conditions may require more frequent maintenance.
